Honeywell has completed the move of its Performance Materials and Technologies global headquarters to Houston, collocating the expanding division with the company’s Process Solutions unit in new facilities at CityWestPlace.
The move, which puts the PMT division in closer proximity to current and prospective customers, has increased Honeywell’s Houston headcount to more than 850 employees.
The company said the CityWestPlace facility in West Houston will also soon be home to a state-of-the-art visitor showcase of Honeywell’s most advanced technologies for industrial customers. Customers will be able to experience the range of the company’s automation products and services that connect data collected from field sensors up to the boardroom.
“Houston is a diverse and rapidly growing city and locating our headquarters here will help us meet our long-term needs to recruit and retain premier talent in our industry.” said Vimal Kapur, Honeywell PMT President and CEO. “It will also allow us to builder closer, more impactful relationships with our Texas-based customers.”
The Greater Houston Partnership worked with Honeywell on the relocation of the PMT business unit, which develops process technologies, automation solutions, advanced materials and industrial software for military, law enforcement and industrial use.
“Honeywell’s decision to relocate its Performance Materials and Technologies business unit to Houston is a testament to our region’s strength as a thriving innovation hub and a center for advanced materials technology,” said Bob Harvey, President and CEO of the Partnership. “Houston has a rich history of groundbreaking developments in science and engineering. With today’s announcement, Honeywell marks a major milestone in our region’s innovation growth. We thank Honeywell for their continued investment in the Houston community.”
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner called the Honeywell announcement another important example of Houston’s momentum in leading the global energy transition.
“As the Energy Capital of the World, Houston has the talent and expertise to amplify Honeywell’s sustainability work,” Mayor Turner said. “And with their focus on key components of the energy transition, including carbon capture, energy storage, and hydrogen, Honeywell’s PMT business unit will serve as a critical partner in Houston’s effort to lead the energy transition. I want to thank Honeywell for strengthening their ties to Houston, and I look forward to working with them in the future.”
