METRO AREA CONSTRUCTION

Dodge Data & Analytics reports that nearly $25.3 billion in construction contracts were awarded in the Houston area through the first seven months of this year. That’s up 35.9 percent from the $18.6 billion awarded over the comparable period in ’23. Residential and non-residential awards rose compared to last year while non-building contracts (i.e., streets, highways, utilities, etc.) declined.

Over half of the most recent construction contracts have been let for projects in Harris County. Fort Bend garnered the second greatest share followed by Montgomery County. Those three comprised almost 86 percent of all construction activity in the region. The remaining 14 percent was dispersed among the seven other counties.
