Roughly 15% of companies responding to the Partnership’s latest Business Barometer Survey say their outlook is worse this week than it was last week. About the same number of respondents say their outlook is better this week compared with a week ago.
About 41% of respondents said their revenues have declined since their last billing cycle. Nearly 17% said their revenues have increased since the last billing cycle, about the same as last week.
Thirty-three percent of responding companies say their operations have been severely impacted by the pandemic while another 40% report a moderate impact on operations.
Asked about the impact of reopening efforts that began on May 1st, 14% of companies responding to the Partnership survey say they have reopened completely while another 43% say they have partially reopened. Nearly 5% say they have not reopened and 38% say they never halted operations.
Asked what they were reassessing following their COVID-19 experience, 65% or respondents said telecommuting practices, followed by technology needs (62%) and office design/layout (52%).
A total of 46 companies responded to the latest Houston Business Barometer survey conducted by the Partnership between July 21-22.
