Houston is home to 44 of the nation’s 113 publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production firms, including nine of the top 25 as ranked by 2019 total assets. Seven more among the top 25 have subsidiaries, major divisions or other significant operations in Houston, including ExxonMobil, Chevron and Hess.
International oil and gas companies with significant Houston operations include Shell, BP, BHP Billiton and CITGO.
